Wynona "Winnie" Nettles,88, born on April 14, 1936, in Anacoco, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, in Longview, Texas. Winnie, a loving mother and devoted grandmother, leaves behind a legacy filled with cherished memories and a spirit of kindness and joy.
Winnie's career began with Southwest Bell, but her true passion lay in being a homemaker, where she poured her heart into creating a warm and loving environment for her family. She was an avid antique collector, always delighted by the treasures she discovered while exploring the Canton Trade Days. Mardi Gras was a celebration she particularly enjoyed, and she relished the times spent at Grand Isle, Louisiana, where she created many wonderful memories.
Winnie's family included her two beloved sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Darla Nettles of Kilgore, and Alan and Robyn Nettles of Kilgore. She took immense pride in her grandchildren, Carter Nettles, Sophie Nettles, John Parks, and James Parks, and her six great-grandchildren. Her brothers-in-law, Bob Nettles of Lafayette, Louisiana and Charlie Nettles of Carencro, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Catherine Carricut and husband Lee of Lafayette, Louisiana and Carol Betzener of Benbrook, Texas along with many nieces and nephews, also survives her, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Winnie is preceded in death by her parents, Nate and Edna Goins, her husband, Ray Nettles, her son, Chris Nettles, and three sisters, Verna Beltz, Velma Lou Canada, and Chiquita Wooten.
Her presence will be profoundly missed by those who knew and loved her. The depth of her compassion and zest for life were matched only by her commitment to her family.
The services honoring Wynona "Winnie" Nettles will begin with a Rosary at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, Texas, on September 30, 2024, at 6:00 PM, followed by a Visitation from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass in her memory will be celebrated at Christ The King Catholic Church in Kilgore on October 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
Wynona "Winnie" Nettles' vibrant spirit and unwavering love for her family will remain in their hearts forever. May she rest in peace.
