Obituary

William Thomas King III, affectionately known as Bill, passed away on November 21, 2025, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 77. Born on July 22, 1948, in Dallas, he lived a life marked by love, dedication, and joy that touched the hearts of many.

A proud graduate of Dallas Baptist University, Bill held a bachelor's degree that reflected his commitment to education and personal growth. His time in the Army from 1969 to 1971 instilled in him the values of discipline and perseverance which he carried throughout his life.

Bill dedicated over 30 years to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where he is remembered not just for his professional contributions but also for the kindness he extended to his colleagues and friends.

His passions were as diverse as his interests: whether painting small figurines, sharing his love of classic cars (with a particular affection for Corvettes), or passing on his love for the outdoors through Boy Scouts, Bill never shied away from a new adventure. Music filled his heart as well; he sang in the Forest Home Baptist Church’s choir and was part of a delightful group called “Friends” that performed at local nursing homes, spreading God’s love and smiles to each of the residents and staff.

His proudest accomplishment was without a doubt his family. Bill cherished his wife Faye, whose partnership of 50 wonderful years yielded unforgettable memories and laughter. Together, they raised Adam, who inherited his father's kind spirit. He took immense pride in his family, particularly in his granddaughters, Taylor and Carley. His love for them was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. Bill loved his extended family, including brother David ( Teresa) King, sisters-in-law Lisa Collins and Nell Carter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends from his church family and extended family, all of whom he cherished dearly.

He joins his beloved parents, William King Jr. and Billie King; his twin sisters, Sharron Collins and Shirley Carter; and brothers-in-law, Mike Collins and John Carter, who preceded him in death.

As we gather to celebrate Bill’s life, we’ll remember the twinkle in his eye and the warmth of his heart. A memorial service will be held on December 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.

Though he may have departed from this world, the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind will continue to echo among those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest easy, dear Bill—you’ve definitely earned a peaceful ride in the best Corvette heaven has to offer!
