Wanda Joyce Pickett Edney
Wanda Joyce Pickett Edney, 81, of Kilgore completed her earthly journey on Thursday, November 24, 2022, following a courageous battle with cancer, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, with Rev. Don Nicholson officiating, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6p until 8 p at Wanda’s home, 2001 Crestview, Ln, Kilgore, Tx, 75662. Interment will follow in Danville cemetery.
Wanda was born on January 9, 1941, in Tyler, to Elmer Pickett, Sr. and Josephine Pickett. She was member of the Chapel Hill Class of 1959. Wanda worked as an administrative assistant for Kilgore Tire for 28 years until her retirement. She was a long-time member of Highland Park Baptist Church.
Wanda’s family brought her great joy and comfort. Her happiest times were when she could cook large meals for her family and friends. She was an excellent baker and was known for her German Chocolate Cake. She would even make different icing for different parts of the cake based on who liked or did not like particular ingredients. Anything to please her family. When she was not busy baking or spending time with her family, Wanda enjoyed yardwork, especially working her flowerbeds.
Wanda was reunited with her parents, her husband of 60 years Charles Edney, siblings Elmer Pickett, Jr., Betty Jean Davis, Patsy Bright and Sylvia Allen.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cinda Maxwell (Paul Kincaid) of Kilgore, Lisa Ross of Kilgore; grandchildren, Trip Clements of Kilgore, Kasie Barnhart of Kilgore, Will Estel (Sydne) of Prosper, Jacob Estel of Kilgore, Shanda Branch (Jason Barnes) of Kilgore, Jenna Alarcon (Gerado) of Garland; great-grandchildren, Makenzie Green of Kilgore, Gunnar Barnhart of Kilgore, Brynn Barnhart of Kilgore, Poppy Estel of Prosper, Maggie Branch of Kilgore, Liam Alarcon of Garland. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
The family would like to express their heart felt appreciation to Texas Oncology and PrimeCare Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Wanda during the last days of her earthly journey.
