Wanda Kay Burleson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on October 31, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was the daughter of Wehlner A. Holman and Bertha Lorene Wissman. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Artie Holman and Arlie Holman.
Wanda's educational journey began at Miller High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, before she furthered her studies at Delmar College in Corpus Christi. She built a remarkable career, initially working for the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) before transitioning into the Real Estate Title Insurance Business. Her career spanned several locations including Corpus Christi, Laredo, and Longview, Texas. Notably, while working at a Laredo Title company, Wanda played a significant role in assisting George Strait with the closing of his ranch in Encinal, Texas. After dedicating 20 years to Central Title Company in Longview, she retired in 2013 as an escrow officer.
Wanda cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grandkids. She was deeply involved in their lives, frequently traveling across the U.S. and Mexico to create precious memories with her loved ones. Her adventurous spirit also took her to the UK, where she enjoyed visiting her grandkids. Wanda had a passion for quilting and rug hooking with friends, sharing many cherished pieces with her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Glenn Burleson of Liberty City; her sons, Jason Burleson of Liberty City, and David Burleson and his wife, Sharon, of Maltby, England; and her beloved grandchildren, Jasmine, Ruby, and Caleb; sister, Virginia Goss of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters-in-laws, Dennis and Terri Burleson, Janelle and Jimmy Nix, Rick and Barbara Burleson, Andy and Sara Burleson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
Wanda Kay Burleson's warm spirit and enduring love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
