Walter Chatman Myers

Walter Chatman Myers, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence in Kilgore, Texas, on July 18, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on October 30, 1933, in Jacksonville, Texas, Walter was a proud high school graduate who dedicated much of his life to the family he cherished deeply.

Walter had a successful career as a manager at Dickies Clothing Rentals, where his strong work ethic and commitment contributed to the company's success. He was admired for his determination and was known for his ability to balance professional responsibilities with a deep affection for his family. He married Avis Martin Myers, and together, they celebrated 50 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

His devotion extended beyond his work as he was a dedicated member of the Kilgore Missionary Baptist Church, where he found community and faith. Walter's warm personality and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his wife, Avis, Walter is survived by his son, Bennett Williams of Louisiana, his sister-in-law, Betty Mace of Pennsylvania, and four beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Myers, and his mother, Gladys Stanley Myers.

Walter's legacy will continue through the lives he touched, and he will always be remembered for the love he freely gave and the hard work he embodied. The family invites friends and loved ones to gather in remembrance. Visitation will be held on July 21, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home, located at 401 North Martin Street, Kilgore, TX. A funeral service will follow on July 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Rader Funeral Home, concluding with interment at Rusk County Memorial Gardens..
