Tommy Jerrell
Tompkins
Oct 9, 1953 — Oct 6, 2026
Kilgore, Texas
Tommy Jerrell Tompkins of Kilgore was born on October 9, 1953, in Tyler, Texas to Sidney and Lena Tompkins. Tommy saw the glorious face of Jesus on October 6 after a short illness in Longview, Texas a few days before his birthday. Having made Jesus his savior many years ago. He expressed his desire to go home and meant it and celebrated his birthday in Heaven this year.
Tommy was gentle, kind, and one of the funniest people God ever created. Growing up in a large family he was the practical joker. Many times setting up his siblings to take the fall for one of his shenanigans. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, camping, fishing and making gadgets to make life easier. He was a master builder and carpenter and could make beautiful things out of scraps. Tommy was married to Brenda whom he met at a Carmen concert, married 6 weeks later and they were never separated from that day, until she went to be with Jesus in August of 2021. He has missed her greatly, even her lavish and over the top Christmas decorations.
Tommy was a proud father and a Papa who loved his kids and grandkids immensely and was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews. Tommy had a servant's heart to a fault and would help anybody, anywhere that was in need. He faithfully served alongside his wife in every church that they attended doing many special projects even if he was “voluntold” to do so. Tommy was a man of few words at times, but no one funnier when he spoke. He was the greatest. He was …he really was.
