Graveside services for Tommy Ray Madewell, 76, of Kilgore, will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at 10 a.m., in the Danville Cemetery with Rev. David Hampton officiating, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Tommy reunited with his mother and father, Rosella and Joe Madewell, as well as his siblings, Bobby Madewell and Ruby Grantham, in Heaven on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 after battling respiratory complications for several years.
Born in Kilgore, Texas, on June 28, 1944, to Rosella and Joe Madewell, Tommy spent his youth working for various welding and oil companies, and even operated his own welding business. In addition to his successful livelihood, Tommy loved his family fiercely. He was a dedicated husband, father, Pawpaw, brother, cousin, and friend, who was known for not only his strong devotion to his family, but also his quick wit and ability to make anyone smile. Those who knew Tommy understood that he was a man of his word, and no matter the hardships that he endured, he made sure that those around him were taken care of.
Tommy was, above all else, a family man. Spending time with his family was a priority, and whether the occasion be fishing, holiday celebrations, watching his favorite old western films, or simply sitting around the kitchen table playing cards, he was always delighted to be surrounded by his loved ones.
Tommy’s memory lives on through his beloved wife, Linda; his sons, Tommy Madewell of Kilgore, Johnny Madewell of Kilgore, Steven Madewell and his wife, Sonia, of Kilgore; his brother, Frankie Walls of Dallas; his sister, Peggy Searcy of Henderson; his two grandchildren, Hunter and Acea Madewell of Kilgore; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins, all of which he loved dearly.
Memorials may be made to The National Emphysema Foundation or a favorite charity.
