Kilgore

Thomas A. Kinkaid, born on July 17, 1934, in Adrian, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home in Kilgore on May 28, 2025. He was a cherished member of the community, remembered not only for his contributions to his profession but also for his deep commitment to family and service.

While serving in the United States Army stationed in Ft. Polk, Tom met his future wife, Johnnie. He was honorably discharged in 1956, they married on February 6 of that year, and Tom began his career with PPG Glass in Shreveport. In 1971, he purchased East Texas Glass, a venture he successfully led until 1996, when his son purchased the business from him. His work ethic and dedication to his craft left a lasting impact on those who knew him professionally and personally.

He was an active community member, proudly serving with the Kilgore Lions Club in the 1970’s and 80’s. He was a member of the former Stone Ridge Baptist Church. Tom's pride in his accomplishments was evident to all who crossed his path.

Tom leaves behind a loving family that includes children Denise Osborn and husband Brent of Kilgore, and son Thomas "Bert" Kinkaid, Jr. and wife Elaine of Kilgore. He is also survived by grandchildren Amy Kinkaid Skinner and husband Todd of Longview, Josh Croley of Kilgore, and Cayden Croley of Kilgore; as well as great-grandson Luke Skinner of Longview. His sister, Janet Spenner, and husband, Robert of Riverside, Iowa, along with sisters-in-law Dorothy Dowden of Kisatchie, Louisiana, Patsy Dowden of Bridge City, Texas, and Susan Dowden of Flora, Louisiana, also mourn his passing, alongside several nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Johnnie Kinkaid, as well as his parents, John and Bernice Kinkaid, and his sisters Velma Jean Kinkaid, Joyce Kinkaid, and Judith Jarvis.
