Tereso Romero Hernandez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. Born on September 26, 1948, in En la mesa del Pueblo del Municipio de San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Mexico, Tereso dedicated his life to both his family and his community.
His career began in oil field services, where he exhibited a strong work ethic that remained with him throughout his life. Tereso later founded his own dump trucking business, a venture through which he forged numerous friendships and created lasting bonds with those around him.
Mr. Hernandez was an active Jehovah Witness and loved to preach whenever the opportunity was available.
A hardworking and dedicated family man, Tereso was known for his love of storytelling, sharing family adventures, and having a joke ready to bring smiles to those he loved. He took great pleasure in spending time outdoors, caring for his sheep, ducks, geese, peacock, guinea fowl, chickens, and his beloved dogs, Benito and Rumina. He had a particular passion for flowers and could often be found tending to them or relaxing by the pond.
Tereso enjoyed the simple delights of life, including eating his favorite dishes like tacos and chili rellenos, watching soccer matches, listening to music, and dancing. His vibrant personality and zest for life will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Sofia Otero de Hernandez; his beloved daughters Elodia Tapia and husband Elias Tapia, Flora Martinez and husband Hector Martinez, Raquel McKinnon and husband Michael McKinnon, and Patricia Hernandez; his siblings Antonio, Carmen, Gloria, Alfonso, M. Guadalupe Hernandez and Julio Hernandez; and his cherished grandchildren Sarah Tapia, Elias Tapia, Jessica Tapia, Abigail Martinez, Leslie Martinez, Matthew McKinnon, and Sophia McKinnon, along with his great granddaughter Kaylee Baldera as well as many other loving family and friends.
Tereso was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Luz Hernandez Romero and Vicenta Romero Guzman, as well as his daughters Jenney P Hernandez and Octavia Hernandez, and siblings Ester, Ramon, and Concepcion.
A visitation will be held on May 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home located at 401 North Martin Street, Kilgore, TX 75662. A funeral service will take place the following day, May 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the same location, with interment to follow at Overton City Cemetery, starting at 3:30 PM.
Tereso Romero Hernandez will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, hard work, and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Tereso Romero Hernández, un amado esposo, padre, abuelo y amigo, falleció pacíficamente el 24 de mayo de 2025 en Tyler, Texas. Nacido el 26 de septiembre de 1948 en En la mesa del Pueblo del Municipio de San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, México, dedicó su vida tanto a su familia como a su comunidad.

Guadalupe Hernández y Julio Hernández; y sus queridos nietos Sarah Tapia, Elias Tapia, Jessica Tapia, Abigail Martínez, Leslie Martínez, Matthew McKinnon y Sophia McKinnon, junto con su bisnieta Kaylee Baldera, así como muchos otros familiares y amigos amorosos.
