Sue Beck DeHaven, born on September 1, 1937, in Victoria, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Kilgore. She was a beloved member of her community, known for her kind and generous spirit. Sue was the epitome of helpfulness, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. She had a unique ability to connect with others, embodying the belief that she never met a stranger.
Throughout her life, Sue enjoyed nurturing relationships with her family and friends, cherishing the time spent with loved ones. Her warm heart extended to her beloved dogs, especially her faithful companion Christopher, who provided her with companionship and joy.
In addition to her love for animals and people, Sue also had a passion for the arts, particularly China Painting, which allowed her to express her creativity and share her artistic talents. Sue served as President of the Porcelain Art Club in Houston helping to grow her passion.
Sue is survived by her nieces and nephews, Linney Jo King, Thomas Beck, Gwen Winters, and Doug Winters, and her stepchildren, Susan Martinez, George DeHaven, Andrea DeHaven and Debra Alaberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Davis Beck and Lela Maddox Beck, who undoubtedly shaped the kind and giving person she became. She also leaves behind her best friend, Bobbye Parker, who lived one street over in Houston, supported Sue in every way, especially during her last year in Houston before Sue moved to Kilgore.
Sue Beck DeHaven will be remembered fondly for her contributions to those around her, her artistic endeavors, and the deep bonds she forged with family and friends throughout her life. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Sue will be laid to rest beside her husband Bill at Forest Park Cemetery in Houston.
