Linda Sue Clements, lovingly known as “Sue,” passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 4, 1940, to Franklin and Juanita Cox, Sue was a lifelong resident of Kilgore, Texas, where she was raised and built a life centered on family, friendship, and simple joys.
In August of 1957, she married the love of her life, John Cecil “Johnny” Clements. Together they shared many years of marriage and raised three children: John Cecil (Jay) Clements, Jr., Christy Don Clements, and Jody Dale Clements.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnny; and her sons, Jay and Christy Don.
She is survived by her son, Jody Dale Clements and his wife, Courtney. She also leaves behind a large and loving family, including her grandchildren: John Cecil Clements III, Joshua Kaleb (Hillary) Clements, Kasie Clements Barnhart, Drew Cauley, Tristan Bryce Clements, Bailey Dalton (Blake) McNair, and Samuel Harrison Clements. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Brennan (Abby), Brody, Weston, and Georgia Clements and Alanah and Nadia; Hayden and Jayden Cauley; Kasyn, Beckett, and Presley McNair; Gunnar and Brynn Barnhart; and Makenzie (Steven) Green. She was also blessed with great-great-grandchildren Maverick, Legend, and Creed Green.
Sue is further survived by her former daughter-in-law, Cinda Maxwell; her dear cruise companion, Tod Dickerson; and her siblings, Donald (Shirley) Cox, Pat (Tommy) Bingham, and Charlotte (Wayne) Gossage, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends she considered family.
Sue dedicated over 20 years of service to Maude Laird Middle School in Kilgore ISD before retiring in 1995. During her time there, she touched the lives of many students, who carry fond memories of her kindness and presence.
Sue will be remembered as one of a kind, fun-loving, warm, and full of life. She was a natural entertainer who loved to sing and brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She had a special love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. She never missed an opportunity for a good garage sale, a new travel adventure, or even browsing Temu, one of her favorite pastimes. Known for her kindness and welcoming spirit, Sue was truly a friend to all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
To celebrate Sue’s amazing life, friends and family will gather for a visitation on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore from 5 to 7 pm.
