Robert Stephen Garrison, Jr., 58, passed away June 3, 2026, in Winnsboro, TX, under the care of Chambers Hospice at AVIR Nursing Home from results of MS – muscular sclerosis.
Born in Kilgore, TX, on December 18, 1967, he was the child of “Bob” Robert Stephens Garrison, Sr. and Betty Mahurin Garrison Baker. At 16 years of age, he was baptized at Chandler Street Church of Christ, Kilgore. Robert graduated from Kilgore High School in 1987. While in high school, he served as equipment manager for the High Steppers and was a member of a Longview running club. Following graduation, he attended Kilgore College.
Robert worked building and maintaining microwave telecommunication towers. He spent many hours researching the dangers of microwaves. Outside of work, he had a passion for reading books and conducting Internet research on the topics he loved. Among his favorite topics were physics and chemistry, gardening, and honey bees. He also enjoyed reading his Bible. Loving his property, he had a “green thumb” that enabled him to grow beautiful flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, and grapevines. In later life, he became passionate about tending to his many beehives. Through the years, he adored his numerous pets, especially his old dog Boner.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, "Bob" Robert Garrison; two sisters, April "Sam" Garrison Gandy, and Diedra Diane "Dee Dee" Garrison Johnson. maternal grandparents, “Herb” John H. Mahurin and Lou Ella Patterson Mahurin of Kilgore; paternal grandparents, Frank S. Garrison and Marietta Moore Garrison of Kilgore.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Betty and Jimmy D. Baker of Kilgore, life-partner Angela Cox; daughters, Rebecca Garrison and Melissa Bilby; son, John W. Garrison-Cheshire; brothers, Bret Garrison and John S. Garrison, step brothers Lee Baker (Teri), Jesse Baker (Glenda), James Baker (Jeri), Jeffrey Baker (Helen); brother-in-law, Greg Johnson; aunt, Julia Mahurin Nixon; uncles, John Mahurin (Jan), and Leon Donham; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private graveside services are being held by Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
