Mr. Robert Dwain Villyard was born on June 10, 1943, in Tyler, Texas to Clayton and Christine Villyard. After graduating from Leverette’s Chapel in 1961, he attended Kilgore College. He joined the United States Air Force in 1962 and honorably served his Country for four years. Deployments including Alaska and Germany. Dwain married the love of his life Sherry Lynne Martin on October 20, 1972. They celebrated their fiftieth anniversary this past October. He worked in the East Texas oil field and for Amoco Production Company and later retired from Delek Refining in Tyler. Taking pictures and capturing video of family gatherings was something Dwain loved to do. Often times you would find him reminiscing on the memories he had captured. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors working in the yard, keeping his pool in pristine condition, golfing, and fishing. Tailgating with his family at Dallas Cowboys football games as a season ticket holder for many years was one of his favorite pastimes. Dwain also enjoyed keeping up with his former Leverett’s Chapel Classmates and fellow Airforce Veterans whom he served with and considered some of his dearest friends. Dwain was a longtime member of Southern Oaks Baptist Church in Tyler. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. Dwain will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survivors include his wife Sherry Martin Villyard of Tyler, daughter Laura Weatherford and husband Jamie of Whitehouse, son Clay Villyard of Tyler, granddaughters Macy and Lyndy Weatherford of Whitehouse, grandsons Liam Villyard of Pittsburg, and Cole Villyard of Whitehouse, sister Diane Johnson and husband Merritt of Horseshoe Bay, and sister-in-law Gene Villyard of Longview and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members.
