Robert A. Bigler, known to his family and friends as "Bob", to his adoring grandchildren as "PaPa" and "Crusher" during his high school wrestling days, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026. Born on February 23, 1949, in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late Virginia and Harold Bigler. Bob grew from a hardworking and kind young man into a loving husband, devoted father, proud Papa, and steadfast friend. Bob was a man whose strength and determination never wavered, even through more than a decade-long battle with prostate cancer, undergoing triple bypass surgery, living with diabetes, Parkinson's disease and the effects of a stroke. He faced every challenge with remarkable courage, resilience, and quiet dignity, earning the admiration of everyone who knew him. Bob worked for Truck One as the manager in Waxahachie, Texas for 30 years. He was a true warrior, a devoted history buff who loved John Wayne movies, camping, fishing, and watching football. His loyalty to the Ohio State Buckeyes was matched only by his devotion to his family. Bob was also an avid NASCAR fan, and his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. In his younger years, he proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter in Rittman, Ohio, an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff for the State of Ohio, and a Boy Scout leader, always willing to give his time in service to others. One of Bob’s favorite icons was John Wayne, whose words reflected the way he lived his own life: "Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway." That quote perfectly captured the man Bob was. No matter what life placed before him, he faced it head-on with grit, perseverance, and an unbreakable spirit. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol Bigler; his daughters, Stacey Barton and husband Kyle, Lindsay Bruton and husband Bob, and Ashley Sanchez and husband Joe; his grandchildren, Bailee Nicole Barton and fiancé Justin Brunk, Rafe Gray, Tatum Bruton, Dawson Brooks, Carter Grace Barton, Cooper Brooks, Emersyn Sanchez, Jace Bruton, Jaxson Bruton, Cheyenne Sanchez and Corbin Sanchez; his great-grandson, Beckham Creed McCall; his sister, Sharon Chipps; his brother, Jack Bigler and wife Leah; and his sister-in-law, Lori Bigler, as well as many other loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Virginia “Ginny” Bigler, his brother, Richard "Dick" Bigler, and brother-in-law Melvin "Mel" Chipps. Bob’s greatest legacy was not measured by the hardships he endured, but by the love he gave so freely. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who respected him, and countless memories that will live on for generations. We encourage those who knew Bob to honor his memory by sharing stories and uploading photos to his memorial page. These memories will forever celebrate the life of a beloved husband, dad, Papa, brother, and friend—a true warrior whose strength, humor, and love will never be forgotten. A Celebration of Life honoring Bob will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026, at The Avenue Church in Waxahachie. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time. Memorials honoring Bob can be made to The Avenue Church in Waxahachie at www.theavenuechurch.com, The Parkinson's Foundation at The Parkinson's Foundation or to Heart to Heart Hospice at www.hearttohearthospice.com.
