Ricky Darrell Peek

December 6, 1959 — October 12, 2025

Kilgore, Texas

Ricky Darrell Peek, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Kilgore, Tx on October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on December 6, 1959, in Dallas, Texas.

Ricky began his career with Koch Pipeline, working as a Cathodic Protection Specialist, before becoming self-employed as a winch truck owner and operator. He also served proudly as a member of the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office as a Mounted Unit. A man of great integrity and service, Ricky was a Master Mason and a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge No. 101.

An avid outdoorsman, Ricky found peace and joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He was also a proud member of the Hogg Eye Motorcycle Club, where he built lifelong friendships and shared his love of the open road. Known for his cantankerous and ornery sense of humor, Ricky had a light-hearted way of teasing those he loved — a quality that made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.

Ricky survives by his beloved wife of 28 years, Cheri Peek; daughters Lacie Peek, Caitlyn and husband Nick VanMeter, Catarena and husband Alec Deshotel, all of Kilgore; and his adored granddaughters, Dawson, Abbie, Kenslea, Kyler, Ashten, Emory, Anasyn, Jada, and Landry.

He also leaves behind his sisters, Robin and husband Ronny Richardson of Liberty City, and Kristie Peek Watkins of Sims, Texas; lifelong friends Gary Wayne Davis and wife Patsy, and Bobby Grimes and wife Rhonda; as well as nephew Jerad Richardson and wife Holly, among numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ricky was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, John Henry and Dora Mae Harris, and his father-in-law, Curtis Clifford.

Ricky’s witty humor, kindness, devotion and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by those who were blessed to share his life.

There will be a Celebration of life in lieu of a funeral service per Ricky’s wishes.
