Richard Dwayne Cobb, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on February 6, 2026, in Longview, Texas. Born on February 25, 1949, in Kilgore, Texas, Richard led a life characterized by dedication, service, and love for his family and community.
Mr. Cobb served in the United States Air Force, where he committed 24 years of devoted service to our nation. His military career was marked by honor and resilience, showcasing his enduring dedication to the values he held dear. Following his retirement, Richard continued to contribute to his community, being actively involved in the D.A.V. and Legion Hall in Kilgore, where he made lasting impacts and friendships.
Richard was a man who cherished time spent with family and friends, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored deeply. His family recalls the warmth and joy he brought into their lives. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of rodeos, with bull riding being his favorite event. Alongside these passions, Richard proudly supported the New Orleans Saints, embodying the spirit of a true sports enthusiast.
In addition to his military accomplishments, Richard is remembered for the love he shared within his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Norma Jean Cobb; his daughter, Tomasene Elliott, and her husband John; his son, David "Andy" Cobb, and his wife Stacie; as well as his grandchildren: Tammy Hale and her husband Leon, Thomas Coleman, Tara Coleman, Elaine Cobb, and Kaitlyn Barnett with her husband Jerry. He also left behind a legacy of great-grandchildren: Jax Barnett, Emma Hale, Mason Hale, Elija Coleman, Rowan Coleman, and Addlynn Herndon as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. His beloved dog, "Trucker," was also an important companion in his life.
Preceding Richard in death are his father Rueben T. Cobb, mother Letha L. Lala, stepfather Albert J. Hall, sister Flora Gene Hall, brother Raymond O. Cobbs, Sr. and sister-in-law Pearl Cobbs.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 6, 2026, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, Texas, beginning at 2:00 PM. Richard Dwayne Cobb will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for the love and joy he spread among his family and friends throughout his life.
