Rev. Byron Allen, a faithful servant of God, passed away on August 20, 2025, in Texarkana, Texas, at the age of 95. Born on February 7, 1930, in Minter, Texas, he dedicated over 70 years to the ministry, passionately pastoring several churches across Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
Throughout his ministry, Rev. Allen sought to honor Jesus Christ and bring glory to His name. He inspired countless individuals through his passionate preaching, through his commitment to leading Bible studies and sharing the truth of the Scriptures, and authoring several books that reflected his deep faith and understanding of God's word. His life's work served not only to build the church community but to foster a sense of belonging and spirituality in the hearts of many.
Beyond his pastoral duties, Rev. Allen was known for being a faithful husband, a wonderful father, and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. He is remembered for his warmth and care, traits that endeared him to his family and friends alike.
Rev. Allen leaves behind his beloved children: Melinda Hornbeck and her husband Larry of Texarkana; Stephen Allen and his wife Beverly of Bullard; Annette Ashley and her husband Rick of Foreman, Arkansas; Kim Birdwell and her husband Tom of Chandler; and Keith Hammons and his wife Carol of Lindale. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law, Sue Allen of Lufkin and Kathy Allen Boobar of Plano, as well as his brothers, Raymond Allen and his wife Joann of Powderly, and Mahlon Allen and his wife Chris of Greenville. Additionally, he was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 23 great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy.
Rev. Byron Allen was preceded in death by his parents, B.F. and Annie House Allen; his first wife, Alice Marie Allen; his second wife, Patsy Ann Allen; his sons, Charles Byron Allen and Joel Allen, and his great-granddaughter, Bryce Joelle Burkett.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 30, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Liberty City, starting at 10:30 AM. The family will gather following the service to visit with family and friends. This gathering will honor a man whose life was a testament to his unwavering faith and love for those around him, ensuring his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his generosity and spirit.
