Norma Jean
Cobb
February 20, 1950 – April 17, 2026
Norma Jean Cobb, a cherished artist, dedicated educator, and loving matriarch, passed away on April 17, 2026, in Longview. Born on February 20, 1950, in Norman, Oklahoma, Norma’s life was marked by a profound devotion to her family, her art, and her community.
Norma’s artistic talents flourished early; while attending Kilgore College, she showcased her musical abilities playing the clarinet and saxophone with the band, and further honed her musicianship by playing piano at Randolph Air Force Base. Her passion for the arts extended beyond music—she was a commissioned artist known for her skill in painting, drawing, sketching, and creating clay sculptures. Her creative spirit was matched by her commitment to education. Norma shared her artistic talents and life skills as an art teacher and life skills educator, retiring from Kilgore Independent School District in 2005.
Above all else, Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found the greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren. Her warmth and love were a cornerstone in the lives of those she touched.
In addition to her artistic and educational pursuits, Norma was an avid gardener and took great pride in her yard, earning "Yard of the Month" recognition at several Air Force bases during the times her family was stationed there. She cherished baking during the holidays, another way she expressed her love and care for those around her.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Tomasene Elliott, and her husband John; her son, David “Andy” Cobb, and his wife Stacie; her sister Patty Visage and her husband Lonnie; and her nephew Steven Visage and his wife Alejandra. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Tammy Hale and her husband Leon, Thomas Coleman, Tara Coleman, Elaine Cobb, and Kaitlyn Barnett and her husband Jerry. Her legacy endures through her great-grandchildren Jax Barnett, Emma Hale, Mason Hale, Elijah Coleman, Rowan Coleman, and Addalynn Herndon, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Leon Woford and Bonnie Beth Darrow Woford; her husband, Richard Dwayne Cobb; and her sisters Margaret Woford and Donna Jane Woford.
Her life stood as a testament to creativity, dedication, and unconditional love. Norma Jean Cobb’s influence will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her, and her memory will forever remain a beacon of warmth and kindness in the hearts of her family and community.
A Celebration of Life for Norma will be scheduled at a later date.
