Mr. James "J.W." Silvertooth

January 21, 1933 — February 16, 2024

Services for James “J.W.” Silvertooth, 91, of Kilgore will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at two o’clock in the afternoon at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Reverend Josh Howington officiating. A burial will immediately follow the service at Danville Cemetery in Kilgore. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, from five until seven o’clock in the afternoon at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Silvertooth completed his earthly journey on February 16, 2024, in Kilgore.


J.W. was born on January 21, 1933, in Wright City, Texas. Mr. Silvertooth married Catherine F. “Mimmie” Cooper in 1950. They shared countless memories, four children and fifty-four years of marriage together before her passing. J.W. worked in the oil and gas industry for sixty years before his retirement. He worked for many companies through East Texas. These companies included Key Energy Services, Pride Energy Services, Pool Well Services, Ranger Oilfield Products, J.B. Swabbing and Pumps Plus. Mr. Silvertooth married Jaunice Cadenhead Griffith in 2005 and they shared eighteen joyful years of marriage together. J.W. was a devoted Christian and a charter member of Faith Baptist Church. He was faithful to the jail ministry program in Kilgore for thirty years. Mr. Silvertooth enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, and fishing. J.W. was a beloved husband, dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by the Kilgore community, Faith Baptist Church family, and his loved ones.


Left to cherish his memory are his wife Jaunice Silvertooth, children Kay Hulse and husband Lynn, Steve Silvertooth and wife Diane, and Rusty Silvertooth and wife Ceil, stepdaughters Tammy Plaster and husband Kevin and Paula Wigand and husband Ben, three brothers, a sister, eighteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.


James was reunited with Mimmie, his parents, three brothers, a sister and his daughter.
