Funeral services for Mr. Mitch Smith, 72, of Kilgore will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Reverend Mark Hendrick and Reverend Ashley Hord officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 6 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Mr. Smith passed away on Saturday in Kilgore.
Mitch was born on November 28, 1948, in Center, Texas. He was the son of Robert Bryan Smith and the late Dorothy Davis Smith. Mitch was a member of The First Church of the Nazarene in Kilgore for over 40 years. He was active in his church serving as Trustee and on the Board of Directors, sang in the Praise Team and served as a greeter. Mitch worked many years in the family business, Smith Cabinets and later retired from Kilgore College. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, music, camping, along with many outdoors activities. Mitch loved his family and cherished the time spent with them.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Ann Smith and nephew, Michael Smith.
Mitch is survived by his wife of 33 years, Connie Smith of Kilgore; father and stepmother, Robert and Joan Smith of Kilgore; sons and daughters-in-law; Robert Smith and Kelly of Glen Rose, Jared Smith and Lauren of Lakeway, and Bryan Marshall of Montgomery; sisters, Kandi Grissom of Diana and Kellie Swanson and husband Alan of Longview; twin brother, Mike Smith and wife Cathy of Kilgore; brother, Kevyn Smith of Kilgore; step-brothers, Still and Shad Collum both of Kilgore; grandchildren, Ashton Smith, Fisher Smith, Harrison Smith, Finn Smith, Austyn Marshall, Eden Davlin and husband Hunter; great grandchildren, Lilly Ann and Lyla Faith; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for memorial be made to The First Church of the Nazarene of Kilgore 309 E. Sabine Street, Kilgore, Texas 75662
