Michael Charles Kusheba, Sr.

Michael Charles Kusheba SR, 82, of Liberty City, TX, passed away on July 2, 2025, at his home with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born on January 6, 1943, in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Charles and Joyce Kusheba. He graduated from Midlothian High School in Midlothian, Virginia in 1961 as a Merit Scholarship Finalist. Michael went on to attend The University of Richmond, in Richmond Virginia where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. While at the University of Richmond he earned multiple honors and awards, including, Sophomore Mathematics Prize, Junior Physics Prize, two Varsity Letters in Cross Country, three Varsity Letters in Track, he won State AAU Long and Triple Jumps in 1965, the Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership, Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics President, Sigma Pi Sigma Physics President, and Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. In 1971 he graduated from Ambassador University in Big Sandy, TX earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology. After graduation from Ambassador University, Michael went on to attend East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas where he graduated in 1975 with a Master of Science in Computer Science. He earned certifications in Data Processing in 1975, as well as Certified Computing Professional in 1994.

His love for learning led him to his teaching career of 50 plus years. He taught at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, St. Christopher’s School, in Richmond, Virginia, Central High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Ambassador College in Big Sandy, Texas, Texas A&M University Commerce, in Commerce, Texas, Texas Eastern University, in Tyler, Texas, The University of Texas Tyler in Tyler, Texas, Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas, and Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas. He started his career at Kilgore College in the Computer Science Department in 1979 and this is where he remained until he retired from his teaching career in August of 2019. The 40 years he taught at Kilgore College were among his achievements that he was most proud.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 36 years, Ruth Kusheba. His son Michael Kusheba Jr(Angie) of Tampa, Florida, his son Jeffrey Kusheba(Shanon) of Buckeye, Arizona, his daughter Jamie Fowler(Craig) of Kilgore, Texas, and his son Richard Lee(Jennifer) of Longview, Texas as well as grandchildren Draven and Phoenix Kusheba, Bianca, Logan, and Lilliana Kusheba, Jon Berryhill(Michele), Justin Fowler(Katie), Joshua Fowler, River Ottens, and Zoe Lee.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Charles and Joyce Kusheba.

Services for Michael Charles Kusheba, 82 of Liberty City, Texas will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Pastor Tracy Colbert officiating. Burial will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation at Rader Funeral Home.
