Micah Mitchell

Funeral services for Mrs. Micah Mitchell, 75, of Kilgore will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Kilgore with Reverend Jeneille LaGrone and Reverend David Hampton officiating. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Micah passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020.

Micah was born on December 11, 1944 in Hawkins, Texas, she was the daughter of William Hubert “Prof” and Allie Ernestine Smith. Micah graduated from Hawkins High School and went on the graduate from Baylor University. She later attended Stephen F. Austin University where she earned her master’s degree in English. She had a passion for teaching, instilled by her father. Being a “Halliburton wife”, her and Jack moved to many places with his job which allowed her to teach in Palestine, Tyler, Snyder, Dallas, Richardson, Kilgore ISD and Kilgore College. Micah was a lifelong lover of music, she played the organ at many churches starting at the age of 13 and most recently served as the organist at First Christian Church in Kilgore. She was a member of Rotary Club of Kilgore and Kilgore Woman’s Club. Micah’s passion of playing the organ was known by all and she enjoyed watching Texas Rangers Baseball and spending her free time reading.

Micah is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jack Mitchell of Kilgore; sons Scott Mitchell of Dallas and Eric Mitchell of Kilgore; grand dog, Gypsy and several family members and countless friends that she loved deeply. The only thing she loved more than her three guys was her faith for God.
