Melvin Odis Henry Jr., 53, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2026, at Longview Regional Medical Center. Melvin was born in Overton, Texas, in 1973 to Melvin Otis Henry Sr. and Belinda K. Henry. He attended Kilgore High School, later earning his GED, and went on to attend Arkansas University, where he obtained certifications to better prepare for his career in the oil field. Melvin found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, singing, and playing his guitar. 

One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren—wrestling, laughing, and making memories they will cherish forever. He also had a deep love for sharing God’s word with anyone willing to listen. Melvin had a heart of gold. He was always there for his family and friends, ready to lend a helping hand or offer support in any way he could. His love, kindness, and selflessness knew no bounds. He went above and beyond to show others how much they meant to him. And while his heart was gentle, he was fiercely protective of those he loved—if you crossed someone he cared about, you would quickly see that side of him. 

Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sonya Henry; his daughter, Kaisee Warren, and son-in-love, Christopher Warren; his son, Caleb Henry, and daughter-in-love, Kortney McKnight Henry; his grandsons, Troy Henry and Walker Warren; his granddaughter, Payzlee Henry; his brother, Jimmy Henry, and wife, Theresa Henry; his brother, Matt Aaron; sister, Missy Armitage as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Otis Henry Sr.; his mother, Belinda K. Henry; his mother-in-love, Valley Morgan Green; and his beloved grandson, Miles Kennedy Warren.

 Melvin will be remembered for his unwavering love, his generous spirit, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Services for Melvin Odis Henry, Jr. of Kilgore will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 27, 2026, at Living Word Church with Rev. Lee Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
