Mary Virginia Tomberlain Quarles
Mary Virginia Tomberlain Quarles was born on July 1, 1932 to Broud Waymon Tomberlain and Lola Mae Morgan Tomberlain in Hughes Springs, TX. Mary passed away at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, TX on April 15, 2021.
Mary suffered some hardships in life, but she worked hard to raise and provide for her four children: Rhonda Gail Boughner Cates, Terry Anne Boughner Griffin, Peggy Sue Boughner Harsey, and Thomas Waymon Boughner. On December 9, 1972, she married her life partner of 46 years Gerald Wayne Quarles. Mary and Gerald (Jerry) moved to Kilgore, TX in 1974 and made it their home base while Jerry’s career took him to different locations.
In her life, Mary enjoyed working in her flower beds, cooking for family and friends, sewing and crocheting, camping with friends and family at the lake, and spending time with her large extended family at family gatherings.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Quarles, her parents, her brothers Charles Waymon Tomberlain and James Marvin Tomberlain, her sister Carrie June Tomberlain Walls, and her precious great-granddaughter Meghan Lynn Cates.
Mary is survived by her daughters: Rhonda Cates and husband Dwight; Terry Griffin and husband Gary; Peggy Harsey and husband Lyston; and son Thomas Boughner; grandchildren: Brandon Cates and wife Tara; Jennifer Seymour and husband Garrett; Christie Weatherby; Justin Griffin and wife Ashley; Amanda Griffin; and Elizabeth Harris and husband Darren; great-grandchildren: Colleen and Liam Cates; Leila, Benton, and Andrew Tharp; Reilly Weatherby, Griffin Berry, Jake and Jase Rui Weatherby; Sawyer, Canaan and Abigail Griffin, Bailey O’Kelley; Cadence and Aunica Brown, Hadley Epting; and Olivia, Charlotte, and Anderson Harris; great-great-granddaughter Rome Walker; sister Wanda Riggins; sisterin-law Joan Tomberlain; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
