Memorial services for Mary “Mickey” Josephine Heil, 90 of Kilgore will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Brother Dale Hendricks officiating. Mrs. Heil passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 in Kilgore.

Mary “Mickey” Josephine Heil was born on April 23, 1931 to William Spencer Hunter and Mary Josephine Bentle Hunter in Cedar Hill, Texas. Mickey married Alton Carroll Heil on July 1, 1949 in Anchorage, Alaska. They had three children: Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Heil, Linda “Lindy” Joyce Heil, and Randy Carroll Heil.

Mickey was active in her community in Buffalo, Texas and the surrounding area where she resided most of her married life. She was proud to serve as a certified ombudsman assisting seniors in the Centerville Nursing Home for years. She also enjoyed attending a sewing club that she helped organize where she displayed her many crochet items. Mickey loved to crochet and made many afghans for family and friends. She was a member of the Centerville Church of Christ. Mickey enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling overseas and in the United States. After the death of her husband in 2002, Mickey moved to Kilgore, Texas in 2003. Mickey was active in the Kilgore Senior Center, served as a volunteer for the Ladies’ Auxiliary in Kilgore before the hospital closed and also at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview. She served as a volunteer for the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Chandler Street Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband - Alton Carroll Heil; four brothers – Edward Harris Hunter, Ernest William Hunter, Richard Spencer Hunter, Maurice Hunter; and two sisters, Emma Pearl Hunter Wilson, Martha Alice Hunter Pitts.

Left to remember her are her daughter, Cynthia Sutherland of Tollhouse, California; daughter, Lindy Bass (husband Mark) of Kilgore, Texas, and her son, Randy Heil (wife Theresa) of Centerville, Texas, Grandchildren – Kala Rene’ Bass Davis of Cypress, Texas, Marissa Joy Bass-Stroud of Toledo, Ohio, Jalayna Gay Bass Davis of Kilgore, Texas, Dana Dee Heil Trypuc of Arp, Texas, and Grant Adam Heil of Costa Mesa, California; great grandchildren – Bragan Ty Davis, Ryken Blade Davis, Caden Adam Heil, Sydney Rene’ Davis, Payton Riley Davis, Raegan Javan Davis, Bramwell Odin Bass-Stroud, and Avalyn Grace “Gracie” Heil and Step-great grandson, Carson Gunner Davis. She leaves behind a large number of nieces and nephews.
