Mary Ann McDonald, born on December 9, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on October 9, 2025, in Kilgore, Texas. She was a devoted caregiver throughout her life, working in childcare and Kilgore News Herald for many years.
Mary Ann was a proud graduate of Kilgore High School in 1955 and furthered her education at Kilgore College. Mary Ann loved her family dearly and dedicated much of her life to nurturing them, creating a lasting legacy of love and kindness.
She enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including reading, bowling, solving jigsaw puzzles and playing card games. Her zest for life and her engaging personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her son, Eric Anderson, and his wife, Kim, of Liberty City; her grandchildren, Holly Montgomery of Kilgore, Kara Harris and her husband, Justin, of Bowie, Texas, Amy Mathis and her husband, Billy, of Marshall, Shannon Anderson and his wife, Victoria, of Liberty City, and Shelby Anderson and his wife, Logan, of Liberty City; as well as ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Mary Ann is also remembered fondly by her special friend, Linda Niles.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Franklin Deaton and Eula Mae McInroe Deaton, and her daughter, Kathy Lyn Montgomery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Harris and Rev. Michael Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery. As we celebrate the life of Mary Ann McDonald, let us remember her warmth, compassion, and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. She will be deeply missed.
