Mary Ellen "Granny" Golden

Funeral services for Mary “Granny” Golden, 77, of Kilgore will be held in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, with Reverend Jonathan Latham officiating. Burial will follow at the Danville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, October 23, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mary passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at her home in Kilgore.

Mrs. Golden was born on October 12, 1946, in Port Gibson, Mississippi. “Granny” as she was named by her family. Mary’s source of strength came from her family. She was the rock of the family, and she loved spending time with them and hugging her many grandchildren. Mary loved being a homemaker and cooking, she will always be remembered for her grits and cornbread. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Angie Elliott and husband Bobby of Kilgore; son, Stoney Southern and wife Juli of Tyler; stepchildren, John Golden, Jr. and wife Lorraine and Gina Pitman; sister, Nancy Worrell of Kilgore; brother, Lonnie Boler and wife Toni of Colorado; ten grandchildren; Savannah Riley and husband, Derrik, Brett Murphy, Blake Elliott and wife, Brittany, Dakota Donovan and wife, Ty, Jordan Bridges, Nathan Elliott and wife, Leeann, Leah Southern, Tristin Southern, Sky Donovan, and Ryan Elliott; fifteen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Chester Boler and Virgie Kelsey Boler; husband, John Golden; two daughters, Sheila Donovan and Missy Southern.
