Marita Hennigan Jones was born on August 8, 1944, in California. She passed away peacefully at her residence on May 6, 2026. Throughout her life, Marita was known as a devoted homemaker and the owner of Rita's Salvage Grocery Store. She was a person who cared deeply about helping people in need, and her kindness touched many.
Marita had many interests and hobbies that brought her joy. She loved gardening, fishing, canning, and cooking. These passions reflected her nurturing spirit and her desire to create and share with those around her.
She was born to Loyd Hennigan and Louise Cockerham Hennigan, who have since passed away. Marita was also predeceased by her husbands, Daniel "Dan" Allen Dalton, Sr. and William "Bill" Jones, who passed in 2026, sister, Billie Marie Ford, brothers, John Wayne Hennigan, Rufus Alford Hennigan and Michael Deloyd Hennigan and son Jeffrey Clayton Dalton.
Marita is survived by her loving family. Her sisters Dora Ann Hennigan, Betty Grace Tolbert and her husband Ralph, and Bobbie Sue Taylor and her husband Frank and brother, Ronnie Ray Hennigan.
She also leaves behind her sons, Daniel "Dan" Allen Dalton, Jr. and his wife Frances, and Ivan Don Dalton and his wife Betsy. Marita cherished her granddaughters Amanda Michelle Dalton Garner, Sunny Dalton, and Amy Danielle Dalton, who remember her fondly. Additionally, her great-grandson Jackson Riyo Garner.
A graveside service to honor Marita’s life will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Danville Cemetery with Rev. Neil Crick officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Marita Hennigan Jones will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and the simple joys she found in life. Her family and friends will carry her memory forward in their hearts.
