Obituary

Marcelino Ubaldo "Marc" Layco, Jr. passed away on July 24, 2026, leaving behind a deep legacy of love, wisdom, and integrity. Born on August 8, 1948, in Torrance, California, to the late Marcelino Ubaldo Layco, Sr and Thelma Louise Cameron Layco. Marc's life journey was marked by dedication to family, commitment to his profession, and a steadfast character that touched many.

Marc will be remembered above all as a devoted family man whose greatest happiness was found among those he cherished most. A cherished brother, son, and father, he cultivated lasting bonds with family and friends, making every gathering memorable with his warmth, humor, and generosity. Whether hunting, cooking, or simply spending quality time together, Marc poured his heart into every moment, creating unforgettable experiences for those around him.

Throughout his career in the oilfield supply industry, Marc distinguished himself as a gifted teacher and mentor. Beginning his professional path in a machine shop, he embraced each challenge with determination and steadily rose through the ranks to manage some of the largest stores in the business. His colleagues respected him not only for his expertise and work ethic but also for his willingness to share his knowledge, uplift those around him, and help others succeed. His approach to life was grounded in the discipline and organization he brought from his military service, qualities that informed everything he did.

Even as he achieved remarkable professional success, Marc never lost sight of life's true priorities. He valued hard work, perseverance, and above all, integrity—traits instilled from his humble beginnings and nurtured throughout his life. Those fortunate enough to know him recall his generosity, his commitment to helping others, and the unwavering honesty that defined his every interaction.

Marc is survived by his loving sister Lorraine Layco Thompson and his children, Sean Layco, Robert Smith, Matt Layco, and Terrell Layco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Tovar, brothers Freddie Layco and Bobbie Alba, and sister Jerry Lynn Layco. Each relationship he nurtured is enduring testimony to his spirit and the lasting mark he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life to honor Marcelino "Marc" Layco, Jr. will take place at 2:00 p.m. on August 1, 2026, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Mark are warmly invited to attend and pay tribute to a man whose life was a source of inspiration, comfort, and joy.

Marc's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, a testament to a life well-lived and deeply appreciated.
