Lawrence Allen Robinson

Lawrence Allen Robinson, of Kilgore, Texas, known to many as Larry, quietly passed away on September 12th, after a prolonged illness. Larry was born in McAllen, Texas, to the late Clint and Hattie Robinson, on March 15, 1942. He grew up in Freer, Texas, where he was a 1961 graduate of Freer High School.

In 1961, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He remained a proud veteran of the Marines until the end. He married Celia Beall in Alice, Texas, in 1966. They were married for 59 years. They were 20-year residents of Longview, Texas, before moving to Kilgore, Texas, in 1992.

He worked for Texaco Oil Company for 32 years. In 1980 he began working in Angola, Africa, as a Texaco overseas offshore oil platform production supervisor before retiring in 1997.

Larry was an avid hunter and all-around outdoorsman. Making several hunts in Colorado. He was an expert marksman and gun enthusiast, shooting in many black powder and rifle matches. He loved all animals, especially the many dogs he owned and rescued over his lifetime. He was a longtime volunteer and supporter of Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue.

Larry was proceeded in death by his father and mother; brother, Tom Robinson; brother-in-law, Dale McFarland; nephew, Issac Keas; and great-nephew, Jeffrey McFarland.

He is survived by his wife, Celia; his children, Lawrence Allen Robinson II (Cindy), Henry Robinson (Lindsay), and Rebekah Williams (Todd); and grandchildren, Cole and Emily Robinson, Allison and Tinsley Robinson, and Paschal, Vivian, and Mary Lauren Williams. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol McFarland and Vicky Keas (Ike); nephews, Jeffrey and Brent McFarland; niece, Jennifer Lamba; and great-niece, Annalisa McFarland.

A public memorial ceremony is not scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
