Larry Kincaid loved everyone and was deeply loved in return.
From September 27, 1961, to July 6, 2023, he was born, raised, lived and died in Kilgore, Texas. Larry was surrounded by a loving family throughout his life and at its end. His family and friends will gather once more for a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at First Baptist Church of Kilgore. A graveside service will follow in Danville Cemetery.
Larry inspired love in everyone who knew him, and they knew family was everything to him. One of his favorite things in life was to play host, not just to friends and family at events, but to neighbors and strangers, too, as often as he had the chance. He had a love for cooking and spent countless hours serving others, whether gathering with loved ones or on a charity's behalf.
A graduate of Kilgore High School's Class of 1980, Larry worked for KK Mobbs for 38 years. He also served as post master of Danville Masonic Lodge.
As a grandfather, for the first two grandkids Larry started out as 'Pepaw.' The third, though, ultimately dubbed him 'Poppy' – the next two grandchildren picked up that nickname, too. Whether he was 'Pepaw' or 'Poppy,' though, Larry loved to pick up his grandchildren on the golf cart and drive them to EZ Mart for ice cream, and the kids always got a kick out of him going swimming in his plaid boxers. All of them enjoyed their granddad's chocolate chip pancakes.
He was a member of the Cherokee Hunt Club – Larry loved hunting and fishing – and cherished his time outdoors as much as the hours spent manning the kitchen or grill.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Janie, as well as two brothers, Gary and Ronnie.
Left to cherish Larry's memory are Michele, his loving wife of 25 years; daughter Courtney Fears and her husband, Shane; and daughter Heather Allen and her husband, Levi. Larry will live on in his grandchildren – Lauryn Kelly, Bailey Hedges, Aaron Fears, CJ Hedges and River Hedges – as well as his great granddaughter-to-be, Piper Day, and in the remembrances of his siblings Richard (and wife, Sharon), Lonnie, Kenneth and Lisa Hampton (and her husband, Kyle).
He also leaves a legacy to lots of nieces and nephews plus great nieces, great nephews, cousins and The Shop Cat.
Larry will never be forgotten by his very dear friends – Kenny Mobbs, Steve Tanner, Phil Porter and John Jones – and too many others to mention.
Pallbearers include Richard Kincaid, Keith Mobbs, Shane Fears, Levi Allen, Nate Mobbs, Cody Kincaid, Ronny Parks and Kyle Hampton. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Tanner, Phil Porter, Kenny Mobbs, Lonnie Kincaid and Kenneth Kincaid.
What more do you say about a truly selfless person? The impact Larry had on his family and friends will be treasured for lifetimes. He inspired us all to be better humans – he would hope the same for you.
