Kathryn Kay Wentworth, cherished by many as Kathy, peacefully passed away at her home on September 2, 2026, at the age of 75, after struggling with her health post-stroke, but remaining vigilant in her dedication to her friends and family. Born on May 28, 1951, in Norman, Oklahoma, she will be lovingly remembered for her deep faith, warm conversations, and abiding love for her family.

Kathy’s life was shaped by her strong faith, nurtured as the daughter of a Church of Christ preacher. Her compassionate heart shone in her professional life, particularly through her role in Human Resources at the American Optometric Association. As the coordinator for the InfantSee program, she helped pioneer access to free exams for toddlers and early evaluations for children, embodying her desire to make a meaningful impact in young lives.

Her interests were as varied as they were passionate. Kathy loved writing and had a deep interest in genealogy and World War II history. Known affectionately as a “Chatty Kathy,” she was never at a loss for words or a clever quip. Conversations with Kathy were engaging, thoughtful and often therapeutic. She never met a stranger nor left without a new friend. She treasured her family and friends deeply.

Kathy shared 27 years of devoted marriage with her husband, Gregory “Skip” Wentworth. Kathy, or “Kate” as he called her, was the absolute love of his life and he is dearly grieving this tremendous loss. She is survived by her son, Kevin Pigg, daughter-in-law, Kristie Pigg; her daughter, Amanda Montandon, son-in-law, Barkley Montandon; and her cherished grandchildren, Maxim “Max,” Spencer Montandon, and Landon, Lily, and Lakelynne Pigg, who were the lights of her life.

Preceded in death by her father, O.J. Russell; mother, Dorothy Russell; and sister, Janet, Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love and faithfulness. Her memory will continue to touch the lives of family, friends, and countless children. She will be dearly missed.
