Johnny Rex Price, born on August 22, 1954, in Hughes Springs, Texas, left us on January 10, 2026. Johnny enjoyed a fulfilling career as a baseball tournament director for Dugout and Pine Tar Sports Baseball and spent many years as an umpire in the East Texas area. He retired from the oil field, trucking and retail industry, where he had also made his mark.
Johnny was a passionate sports fan, loving both baseball and football, and was especially proud to be a Green Bay Packers fan. He had a fondness for Harley Davidson motorcycles and found great joy in his beloved animals. His grandchildren lovingly called him "Chappie," and "Grandpa Johnny" that reflected the warmth and love he shared with his family.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Price, of Liberty City, along with his son, Jordan Price and girlfriend Erika Hamlin of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. He is also survived by his daughters, Jana Hayes and her husband Jason of Angleton, Texas, Brooke Harris of Liberty City, and Taylor Case and Fiancé Chase Boyd of Overton. His grandchildren include Zach Barnes and Kaley, Haliegh McCoy and Anthony, Gracie Peery, Reed Peery, Judson Price, Jagger Price and Kaileigh Bennett and Kaylon Bennett. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Ozzy, Ivy, Kodi, Kinsley, Gatlin and Swayzie Odum. Johnny is further survived by his son-in-law, Joey Peery as well as daughter, Kristen Hobbs of Hallsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Rex Price and Mozelle Rhodes, stepfather, Costy Solis, stepmother, Marge Price; grandfather, Willard Rhodes and grandparents, Guy and Berta Darby; uncle, Ronnie Rhodes; his father-in-law, Finis Weldon Crowley, and his brother-in-law, Bart Crowley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
