Mr. John “Raklus” Owino Ondinyo

A Celebration of Life service for Mr. John “Raklus” Owino Ondinyo, 44, of Kilgore will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with Reverend Danny Gipson officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. John passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at his home in Kilgore.

John was born on September 24, 1976 in Nairobi, Kenya. He moved to the United States in 1999 and attend Wiley College in Marshall where he was a member of the basketball team. John had a passion for basketball and reggae music and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a gentle man, who believed in love and kindness and could often be heard saying “One Love”. John had so much pride for his home country and would sometimes refer to himself as a “Humble African”, he always held a special place in his heart for his family and friends back home in Kenya.
He had a strong devotion to God and was always steadfast in his faith. His personality would light up a room and strangers would become friends. He will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife Adina Ondinyo of Kilgore; children, Kemuel Paul Ondinyo, Elijah Teri-John Ondinyo, Desirae Medford, Caleb Gipson, and Malaika Ondinyo; granddaughter, Ceanna Gipson; mother, Teresa Ondinyo of Nairobi, Kenya; siblings, Mary Ondinyo, Anastasia Ondinyo, Joseph Ondinyo, Peter Ondinyo, Lillian Ondinyo, Emily Ondinyo, Celestine Ondinyo, and Kevin Ondinyo all of Nairobi, Kenya.

He was preceded in death by his father Paul Ondinyo.
