John Michael “Mike” Hook passed peacefully at home on September 3, 2026, just days after celebrating his 72nd birthday.

Born August 31, 1954, Mike grew up in Mishawaka, Indiana, and moved to Fort Worth, Texas, as a young man in the late 1970s. There, he began a successful career in sales, a profession in which he excelled. Mike had a natural ability to connect with people, earn their trust, and make them feel valued. But his greatest calling was not his career. His faith in Jesus Christ and his love for others led him to what he lovingly described as being a “fisher of men.”

Mike was a thoughtful and generous friend who never forgot what it was like to need a helping hand. During his final weeks, many of the friends who came to visit shared stories of the ways he had changed their lives. He gave people jobs when they were going through difficult times, introduced them to connections that helped build successful careers, and freely gave his time, resources, encouragement, and friendship to those who needed it. He had a remarkable ability to see potential in people and to open a door for them when they needed one most.

Mike was an avid golfer and played on the semi-professional circuit for several years. He loved motorcycles and the freedom of the open road, and he was always willing to try something new. He also enjoyed bowling, sports, music, and cooking. He especially loved bringing people together around a good meal, a great story, or a lot of laughter. He had a way of brightening a room simply by being in it.

Mike met his wife, Paula Rand, through Bible study in 2023. Their time together was a profound blessing to them both, and Paula will forever cherish the love, memories, and life they shared.

Mike is survived by his wife, Paula Rand; his son, Chad Hook; his granddaughter, Savannah Renee Hook; and his great-granddaughter, Bianca Renee Rose.

Mike’s legacy is found not only in what he accomplished, but in the lives he touched. He helped people, believed in them, encouraged them, and welcomed them into his life. The impact he had on others will continue through the many people who carry his kindness, generosity, and example forward.

Mike will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of his wife, family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
