Jimmy Wyatt Thrower, born on August 15, 1933, in Chulafinnee, Alabama, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Kilgore, Texas, surrounded by his beloved daughter, Laurie, and caregivers Gavin Haynes and Kendall Trevino of Arabella, along with many other caregivers.
A proud graduate of Heflin High School, Jimmy spent much of his life dedicated to his career in the oil industry. He managed several Gulf Stations and concluded his professional journey after 31 years with Shell Oil Company. Jimmy was a member of First Baptist Church in Kilgore and beyond his professional achievements, Jimmy was deeply entrenched in his community, having coached Kilgore little league baseball and umpired many games over the years. Jimmy was also involved with helping hands for many years and was a 20-gallon blood donor to Stewart Regional Blood Center. His passion for sports extended to being a steadfast supporter of the Kilgore Bulldogs Football and Kilgore College Football and Basketball and enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers, Alabama Crimson Tide football and Dallas Cowboys where he was a season ticket holder.
Jimmy was also known for his generosity and kindness. He was a dedicated supporter of St. Jude Children's Hospital and Shriners Children's Hospital, reflecting his commitment to helping those in need.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Laurie Thrower McDaniel and her husband David of Lake Cherokee, and his son Terry W. Thrower and his wife Ann of Kilgore. Among his surviving siblings are Peggy Nowland and her husband Bobby and Pat Mason and her husband Charles, both residing in Oxford, Alabama. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Chris Thrower and wife Allison, Jeff Thrower and wife Abbie, Jacob Mobbs and wife Meg, Samantha Mobbs Landers and husband Collin, Seslea Mobbs Nyvall and husband Zennon, as well as Payton Day Biggs and husband Harlee, along with 7 great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harbon Thrower and Elsie Payne; his son, Baron Thrower; brothers Hank Thrower, Rudy Thrower, and Jerrell Thrower; and the mother of his children, Betty Thrower.
Friends and family are invited to honor Jimmy's memory on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. David Hampton officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday; one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Danville Cemetery.
Jimmy Wyatt Thrower will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to family, community, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
