Services for Mr. Jack L. "A.J." Voyles, 86, of Gilmer will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Jack passed away on Monday, August 15 in a Longview hospital.
Jack Voyles was born on December 28, 1935, in Kilgore, the son of the late J.C. and Neva Cobb Voyles. He graduated from Kilgore High School where he was a Golden Glove Boxer. After high school Jack worked for Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore before going to work for Getty Oil Company. He attended University of Houston, studying Chemical Engineering. After college Jack went to work for Amoco Oil Company, where he worked until his retirement. After retirement Jack and his wife Linda owned and operated Bless Your Heart Restaurant in Longview. He is a past president of the Restaurant Association and participated in the Senior Olympics in Austin. Jack was the one that started the annual Penguin Road 4th July Parade in Gilmer 35 years ago and was an avid Longview Lobos Football supporter. He will be remembered as a great husband, father, and grandfather; he was always supportive of all of his sons’ endeavors. Jack was a very thoughtful and fun-loving man, who will be missed by many.
Left to cherish memories of Jack are his wife, Linda Voyles of Gilmer; sons, Sky Voyles and fiancée, Dana Cross of Gilmer and Clay Voyles and wife, Stormie; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Howard Petty of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Serenity Ballard, Marialis Estrada, and Isabella Guerrero; along with other family and friends.
