Obituary

Gordon Wayne Ketteman, 75, passed away at home in Kilgore on October 29, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 21, 1951, and lived a life marked by kindness, faithfulness, compassion, and a deep love for the Lord, people and pursuits that meant the most to him.

Gordon served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. In his working years, he was a mechanic for many years before retiring, bringing skill and dedication to his trade. He was also a man of many interests and passions, and he enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing, and collecting a broad range of different items.

Those who knew Gordon will remember him as a creative influence in the lives of others. He loved telling stories from his life experiences, sharing them in a way that connected people and left lasting impressions. He even wrote a book detailing those experiences, preserving the stories and memories that meant so much to him. Among the accomplishments that brought special meaning to his life was the making of thousands of crosses, which he donated to mission programs, a generous expression of his faith and care for others.

Above all, Gordon treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ketteman, his beloved partner of 56 years. He also leaves behind his sons, Benjamin Wayne Ketteman and his wife Jennifer, and Jeffrey Louis Ketteman and his wife Kristine Praytor Donatello. He is also survived by his brothers, Douglas Ketteman and Daniel Ketteman and his wife Cindy. Gordon’s love extended to the next generation as well, and he will be lovingly remembered by his granddaughters, Elizabeth Louise Ketteman, Addison Rose Ketteman, and Hailey Louise Ketteman. Each of them was part of the family life he held so dear, and his memory will remain close to their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Douglas Ketteman, and his mother, Pauline Oppie Ketteman.

A Celebration of Life for Gordon Wayne Ketteman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 2, 2026, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, in Kilgore.

Gordon’s life was one of service, creativity, hard work, and devotion to family. He will be remembered with love, gratitude, and enduring affection by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
