Gloria Wix Baggett, 79, of Kilgore, completed her earthly journey on Sunday, December 10, 2022, in Longview. Services at the graveside will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in Kilgore City Cemetery, with Honorable Tim Bryan officiating, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.


Gloria was born February 11, 1943, in Kilgore, TX. and passed away December 10, 2022. She was the youngest of three daughters to George and Julia Boone Wix. Gloria attended Elder School, Kilgore Junior High and Kilgore High School, graduating in 1961. She

attended Bethel Baptist Church in her childhood and later in life

married Frank Baggett, Sr. They had one child Frank B. Baggett Jr., whom they loved dearly.


After graduating, Gloria attended Kilgore Jr. College and Stephen F. Austin State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in History and Political Science. She started her 42 year career as a teacher with Kilgore ISD where she taught at Elder, Kilgore Jr. High, Maude Laird Middle School, and the last 11 years of her career were at Kilgore High School. During her teaching career, Gloria received the “Terrific Teacher Award" from the local PTA and Texas State

PTA. She loved teaching, working with young people and had a deep love for Kilgore. After retiring from teaching, she enjoyed working at Pro-Tek Guns with her husband and son and enjoyed visiting with the shop’s customers daily.


Gloria was the happiest when she was with family, especially her granddaughters and making trips with her niece and husband to

Oklahoma. She enjoyed researching her family ancestry and

contacting those she found through Facebook.


Left to cherish her memory are her son Frank Baggett Jr. and wife Jenny, granddaughters Jalissa Smith and husband Ryan of Van Alstyne, Texas, Jenae’ Baggett and partner Chuck Austin of Kilgore, and three great grandchildren Kyran and Jenna Austin, and Jocelyn Smith and numerous nieces and nephews and her faithful cat Taz.


Preceding her in death was her husband of 59 years, Frank Baggett Sr., her parents, and sisters Linda Breland and Helen Tucker.


Memorials may be made in her name to Buckner CFS East Texas, 1014 South High Street, Longview, TX 75602.
