Gerald Ray Holsapple

Funeral Services for Mr. Gerald Ray Holsapple, 79, of Frisco and formerly Sugar Land, will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, August 7, 2021, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Robert Wells officiating. Interment will follow in the Kilgore City Cemetery. Mr. Holsapple completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in Frisco.

Gerald was born on November 27, 1941, in Plainview to Orrin and Virginia Holsapple. He was a member of the Plainview High School Class of 1959. Gerald proudly served in the US Marine Corps Reserve prior to receiving his BBA at Texas Tech University. Gerald began his career as a CPA in Houston with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company. He continued his work for 54 years as a CPA with various companies before retiring with Matrix Oil Company in Sugar Land in 2017. Gerald loved problem solving, as his specialty was supporting his clients through his tax advisory.

Gerald and his wife, Janie, were former members of First Colony Church of Christ in Sugar Land. He was baptized at First Colony in 2011 by Ronnie Norman. He felt a strong connection to his “First Family” small group through the church.

Gerald enjoyed watching high school and Texas Tech football and baseball, but his true passion was cheering on his sons and grandchildren through their various activities. His family was the source of his strength, and he was happiest when spending time with them. He will be greatly missed and always remembered for his love, passion, and genuine authenticity.

Gerald was reunited with his parents, and parents-in-law Elmer Ray and Eddie Lee Evans.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Janie Evans Holsapple of Frisco; sons, Tyler Holsapple and his wife Susan with their children, Emily & Will of Frisco; Todd Holsapple and his children, Hudson, Brody and Lexi of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Shirley Faught and her husband John of Midland; sister-in-law Mary Layne Douglas and her husband Harry of Kilgore; and many other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the Holsapple family appreciate donations to Lifeline Chaplaincy in Houston, Texas (www.lifelinechaplaincy.org).
