George Albert Hogue, 86, of Kilgore, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 25, 2026.

Born December 23, 1939, George graduated from Seymour High School in 1958, where he was a proud member of the football team that made a run to the state championship. George built a long and hardworking career, spending 30 years with ARCO (Atlantic Richfield Company). He also owned and operated DMECO, a medical supply company in Kilgore, for 34 years.

George was a follower of Christ, a devoted husband, loving father, and affectionately known as “Pawpaw” to his six granddaughters and seventeen great-grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Beth Jones and husband John of Bloomburg; son, Brad Hogue and wife Kim of Kilgore; daughter-in-law, Claudia Hogue of Kilgore; his granddaughters and great-grandchildren; along with many cousins, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Hogue of 56 years; his son, Greg Hogue; his father, Harmon Hogue; his mother, Ila Styles Hogue; and his brothers, Bill Hogue and Mark Hogue.

George never met much of a stranger and truly loved being around people. His phone seemed to stay busier than anyone else’s, and he was always happy to get a call or a visit from family and friends. If there was fun to be had, George wanted to be a part of it. He loved hunting, horseshoes, karaoke, dominoes, various card games, and trips to the casino, where he went so often that even the dealers knew him by name.

George was also an accomplished horseshoe pitcher, competing in six World Championships and earning multiple Texas State Championship titles in both singles and doubles.

Whether he was competing, hunting, singing karaoke, talking on the phone, visiting with family and friends, or simply looking for the next good time, George enjoyed life and the people in it. He will be remembered for the many stories, laughs, friendships, and memories he leaves behind.

Services for George Hogue will be held 10:00 am Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. David Hampton officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will follow on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:00 am at Woodmen Cemetery in Seymour, Texas.
