Gayle Barber Boothe, 79 of Kilgore passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, in Henderson, Texas. Gayle was born on September 9, 1945 in Marshall, Texas. For many years, Gayle served as the Police Coordinator for UT Health Center in Tyler and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Kilgore. She lived a life characterized by her loving and caring nature.
She is survived by her daughters Latricia Jacobs and her husband Larry of Woden, Texas, and Dana Alexander and her husband Ricky of Liberty City, Texas. Gayle is also remembered by her sister Paula Williams of Tatum, and her brother Steve Hutson of Longview. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Lane Jacobs and fiancé Flor Elizondo of Woden, Texas; Lindsey Jacobs Mahan of Kingwood, Texas; Jackie Turner and wife Krystalle of White Oak; Mackenzie Alexander McDonald and husband David of Jacksonville, NC; and Teagan Alexander of Kilgore. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren: Kaytee Turner, Olivia Turner, Madalie Mahan, and Benley McDonald.
Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Boothe; her sister, Marla Bishop; and her parents, Charles Jack Barber and Doreen Baxter.
Visitation will be held on August 28, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church in Kilgore. Following the visitation, a funeral service will also take place at the church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Blake Kimbrough officiating. Gayle will then be laid to rest at Rusk County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Her spirit and kindness will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
