Graveside services for Mr. Dwight Cole, 91, of Bullard, Texas (Emerald Bay) will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kilgore Cemetery with Reverend Arthur Blevins officiating. Mr. Cole passed away on Tuesday, February 20, in a Tyler hospital.
Dwight was born on September 18, 1932, in Alma, Arkansas. He was the son of the late Tom and Estelle Blevins Cole. Dwight grew up in Raymondville, Texas and graduated from Raymondville High School. After high school Dwight attended the University of Texas in Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1965 Dwight became a registered Professional Engineer in Texas. Dwight never stopped his studies, he had a thirst for knowledge, and attend many other classes at several different universities. Mr. Cole worked as a student assistant in the math department at the University of Texas, later he worked with a defense aircraft manufacturing company on classified projects. In 1960 Dwight was hired by Texas Power and Light in their Dallas Corporate Office. During his time with TP&L he worked on many different projects in several different departments throughout the company. Mr. Cole worked for Texas Power and Light (Oncor) until his retirement. Mr. Cole loved his family and having no children of his own his nieces and nephews always held a special place in his life. He will be missed by his family and many friends and neighbors at Emerald Bay. Dwight was a member of the Emerald Bay Community Church where he served in many different areas.
Left to cherish Dwight’s memory are his brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Judy Cole of Kilgore; sister, Lee Ann Cole Gilmore of Arlington; sister-in-law, Clyda Cole of Longview; nieces and nephews, Kim Gilmore, Mike Gilmore(Patti), David Gilmore(Pamela), Bryan Cole(Jenni), Dena Butts(Shannon), Gena Matthews(Mark), Ron Cole(Michelle), and Ronna Kay Hanks(Mike); several great and great-great nieces and nephews along with many other family and a host of friends.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carol Cole; brother, James Cole; niece, Tamie Cole, and brother-in-law, Rev. Bill Gilmore.
