Dolores Jean Tucker, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, peacefully departed this life on June 24, 2025, at the age of 89, in Longview, Texas. Born on February 14, 1936, in Kilgore, Texas, she was a joy to her family and community throughout her life.
Dolores dedicated her professional life as the bookkeeper for the family business, where her eye for detail and focus were deeply respected. She also demonstrated a fervent spirit of service by teaching Vacation Bible School and 2nd grade Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Kilgore, and also volunteering at the East Texas Oil Museum. Her devotion to nurturing and educating the young was but a reflection of her nurturing personality.
Raised by her grandparents, Harry and Eva Matthew, during her teenage years, Dolores was a proud graduate of Kilgore High School, where she shone as a cheerleader. She continued her education at Kilgore College, laying a firm foundation for both her personal and professional endeavors.
Dolores took immense pride in her role within her family. Known for her culinary skills, she was especially famed for her homemade dinner rolls, which brought warmth and comfort to many gatherings. Her love for family extended beyond her preparation of meals; she sincerely cared for each member, ensuring that everyone felt valued and loved.
An avid sports enthusiast, she enjoyed watching golf and football on television, often gathering with family and friends to share in the excitement of the game.
Dolores will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ivy Crawford; her grandsons Kevin Crawford and wife Amy, and Matthew Crawford; as well as her great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Cayce, Kaitlyn, Joseph, Andrew, Samantha, and Zachary. Additionally, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and all those who affectionately knew her as "Aunt Dee."
Dolores was predeceased by her husband, John Cline Tucker, and her special friend and companion, Gayle Patrick. Their memories will forever be cherished as part of the legacy she leaves behind.
A graveside service to honor Dolores will be held at Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located on Hwy 31 West in Kilgore, Texas, on June 30, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM. She will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to family and community.
