David Owen Tate

David Owen Tate, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away on May 29, 2025, in Kilgore, Texas, at the age of 77. Born on February 22, 1948, in Denison, Texas, David lived a life characterized by devotion, integrity, and a plain-spoken nature that endeared him to those who knew him.

Before his retirement, David carved out a successful career as a Tool Pusher in the Oil Patch, where his expertise and dedication were well-regarded. His passion for the oilfield was matched only by his love for his family and his unwavering faith in the Lord. He was known for his directness; there was never any guessing about how he felt or what was on his mind. David's candid personality made a lasting impression on everyone he met.

In his retirement David enjoyed surfing the internet, watching murder mysteries and the news.  He also looked forward to visiting with friends old and young, swapping Oil Patch stories and talking shop.

David's love extended deeply to his family, including his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol Tate. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared memories. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Henson, and his grandchildren: Shylo Tate, Madyson Tate, and her significant other Joshua Stuart, Axel Henson and Mindy Owens. David also embraced the joy of being a great-grandfather to Amdyn Fajardo and Gabriel Stuart. His special niece, Malinda Pyle, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends, will carry forward his legacy and spirit.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph Newel Tate and Mary Lucille Tate, along with his daughter, Windy April Tate, and son, Brandon Erik Tate. They will forever be remembered as cherished members of his life.

A visitation will be held on June 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home, located at 401 North Martin Street, Kilgore, Texas. Following this, a Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 2, 2025, Lakeview Memorial Gardens, located at 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, Texas.

David Owen Tate leaves behind a legacy of love, forthrightness, and dedication. His memory will undoubtedly continue to inspire those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
