Obituary

Daniel Ray Wiggins, born on August 26, 1941, in Kilgore, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home in New London on March 25, 2026. He was a man who lived a full and meaningful life, remembered by many for his dedication, love of family, and service to his country.

Daniel proudly served in the United States Navy, a testament to his commitment and sense of duty. After his military service, he built a career with Transocean, where he began working as an offshore welder and later worked as a Ballast Control Operator until his retirement. Throughout his working life, Daniel was known for his steady work ethic and reliability.

On April 2, 1978, Daniel married Doris Rhea Rhoades in Overton. Their marriage spanned 48 years, filled with love and shared experiences. Daniel cherished spending time with his family and friends, always finding joy in their company. His family was central to his life, and he took great pride in being a Dad, Popa, Uncle Daniel, and Dandy.

Daniel was also a valued member of the Rocky Mt Masonic Lodge #63, an accomplishment he held in high regard. This membership reflected his commitment to community and brotherhood.

Daniel put in many volunteer hours with the Overton Mustang Athletic Booster Club and Overton FFA while supporting his children in their school activities.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Rhea Rhoades Wiggins; children: daughter Rochelle and son-in-law Sammy Jones of Harleton, and son Ryan and daughter-in-law Lisa Wiggins of Lumberton. Daniel was a loving grandfather to Natalie Wiggins of Arp, Brody Wiggins of Lumberton, Whitney Hobbs (T.J..) of Harleton, Logan Jones (Brandi) of Harleton, Kayla Wahl (Jaden of Bossier City, LA, and Cayden Polozola of Port Arthur. He was proud of his great-grandchildren, Beckham Jones, Lyla Jones, Sami Kay Hobbs, and Kingston Draper. He leaves behind his sisters Judy Ledet, Belinda Doyle, Linda Orgeron, Kathern Terrebone, and Chris Dardar, along with several nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Wiggins, stepmother Annie Wiggins, and Willow Mae Atwood Hotz; and his sisters, Sybil Shelley and Robbie Arceneaux.

The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore on Sunday afternoon, March 29, from Four until Six in the evening. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30, at 10 am in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Croswell officiating
