Curtis Michael Lewis

January 9, 1944 — November 21, 2025

Gladewater, Texas

Curtis Michael Lewis, affectionately known as "Mike," was born on January 9, 1944, in Overton, Texas. He passed away peacefully at his residence on November 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous three-year battle with ALS.

A proud member of the United States Air Force, Mike served during the Vietnam War, spending time in Thailand. His service to his country was a source of pride that he carried throughout his life. He devoted and worked for many years of his life as an Electrical Technician for Diebold Company.

Mike graduated from Leverett's Chapel High School in 1962. He continued his education at Kilgore College for two years, where he was a treasured member of the Ranger Band, a passion that remained with him and later he attended the University of Houston.

Music was one of Mike's greatest loves; he played a variety of instruments over the years, including the piano, guitar, mandolin, and trombone. His enthusiasm for music resonated through his life and was shared with friends and family alike. In addition to his musical talents, Mike enjoyed the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, often spending time fishing on the White River in Cotter, Arkansas, a tradition he began in 1998, planning trips there every fall with many friends and family members. Moreover, he loved playing golf with his longtime friends Bob and Hubert.

Mike was a devoted member of Chandler Street Church of Christ. His faith and commitment to his community were evident through his service and dedication.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Medders Lewis of Gladewater; his daughters Cydney Wilson and husband Kody of Longview, and Hayley Andrews and husband Justin of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; his son Cullen Lewis and wife Lori of Longview; his grandchildren, Brock Wilson, Jacob Lewis, Josh Lewis, Liam Wilson, Campbell Lewis, Marley Ashby and husband Keaton Ashby, Ava Lewis, Cambria Andrews, Lila Lewis, Gwyneth Andrews, and Rosalie Andrews; his sister Judy Rone of Kilgore; his aunt Sherry White of Colorado; and his sister and brother-in-law, Padgett and Paul Scheibe of Murphy, Texas. Mike is also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who were fortunate to have known him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Nadine Beasley Lewis and Curtis Marion Lewis, especially during his early years when his father was serving in the Pacific during World War II and could not see his son until he was two years old.

Visitation for Mike will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Chandler Street Church of Christ in Kilgore, Texas. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Chris Vidacovich and Pastor Lane Brown officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.

Mike's legacy of love, family, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
