Crystal Dawn Sprayberry, a dazzling soul whose vibrant spirit and heart knew no bounds, left us far too soon on May 5, 2026, in Palestine, Texas. Born on June 24, 1985, in the sun-soaked city of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Crystal was a beacon of fiery determination, fierce love, and unwavering loyalty, a Momma bear whose protective embrace extended far beyond her own family.
For seven impactful years, Crystal devoted her talents to Trane, where she worked with the precision and passion of a true craftsman. Her three years in quality control were marked by an unforgettable standard: she famously challenged colleagues with the no-nonsense question, “Would you sell your mom that?” A testament to her refusal to accept anything less than excellence, Crystal insisted on doing things right, with no half measures. Later, she embarked on a new chapter, training with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, continuing her legacy of dedication and hard work.
Those who knew Crystal knew her as a fierce force. She was feisty, selfless, and brutally honest. Her love for family was legendary; she was a devoted caretaker to her beloved mother, the late Maria Angelita “Angie” Martin, standing as an unwavering pillar during times of need. Crystal's fiery heart was a sanctuary not just for family but for her community as well. She volunteered behind the scenes with the Kilgore Youth Softball Association and many other groups, avoiding the spotlight but never shying away from the grit and sweat of honest effort.
Her proudest accomplishment was her family, a tapestry woven with love and lifelong bonds. Crystal met the love of her life, Tony Joe Sprayberry, Jr., at the tender age of 9, and their story bloomed into a remarkable 26-year journey together, crowned by nearly 22 years of marriage. Together, they raised five beautiful children; Nathan, Kira, Jayci, Emma, and Jozlynn, who carry forward her legacy of strength and compassion. She was mother to many more, every child who entered her home was family and found their safe haven in her protective embrace. Crystal found unbelievable joy in her role as “Gigi” to her precious granddaughter Ruby Sprayberry and the anticipation of grandson Ezekiel Avila, due August 30th.
Crystal’s family circle extends to her siblings—Lico Saenz, Gary and Tammie Martin, Shannon Martin, and Rachel Angelo, and her devoted father, Gary Martin. The laughter and light she brought to her nieces and nephews; Alexia and Sofia Martin; Tristan, Trevor, Trinity, and Taylor Bradshaw; Mylie and Kenzie Bunton; Gia Skillings; and Kaiden and Angelo Pegues, are treasures that will forever echo her joy and care.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Crystal’s remarkable life at a memorial service held Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Danville, 229 Utzman Road, Kilgore. A visitation held at Rader Funeral Home located at 401 N Martin St, Kilgore, Texas, on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. These moments will be a vibrant tribute to a woman who lived her life fully, loved fiercely, and left a legacy of courage, love, and unyielding spirit. We will not be drably dressed in black but vibrantly clad to match Crystal's favorite colors, burnt orange or Kilgore red.
Crystal Dawn Sprayberry was more than a name; she was a radiant force, a whirlwind of love, strength, and truth. Her legacy blazes on in the hearts of those she cherished, a brilliant dawn that will never dim.
