Clyde "Rick" Donald, a talented pilot and cherished father, passed away on August 16, 2025, in Brenham, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on September 7, 1946, in Delhi, Louisiana, his life was marked by achievement and adventure.
Rick's educational journey began at Kilgore High School, where he graduated in 1964. He later attended Stephen F. Austin State University and honed his flying skills at the Spartan School of Aeronautics, where he graduated in 1970. His passion for aviation led him to a distinguished career as a pilot for Continental Airlines, and he was also honored to pilot for the Governor of Oklahoma. His attention to detail and impressive intelligence made him well-respected in his field.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rick proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in the Army. His military service was a point of great pride for him, amongst other achievements that included his career in aviation.
Rick is survived by his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Bradley Donald and Ann Margaret, and his stepsons, Frank Harber and Robert "Danny" Harber. He was a cherished grandfather to August and Isabella Donald, who brought joy and light to his life. Clyde’s younger brother, Randy T. Donald, remembers him dearly, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Pauline Donald, his younger brother, Mickey Donald, his wife and dear friend, Marie Elizabeth Johnson Donald, and his son, Michael Donald. These losses marked deep moments in Rick' life, shaping the man he became—one who cherished family above all, celebrating each moment spent with them.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home, located at 401 North Martin Street, Kilgore, TX 75662. A graveside service will take place the following day, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Kilgore Cemetery, located at 200 Memorial Street, Kilgore, TX 75662.Rick Donald lived a life rich with experiences and love, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
