Carolyn Wimberley, a beloved retired teacher and devoted family member, passed away on September 9, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. Born on December 29, 1947, in McCamey, Texas, Carolyn dedicated 15 years of her life to teaching at Henderson High School.
A resident of Kilgore since 1961, Carolyn was a respected member of her community. Throughout her life, she embodied the values of love and kindness, particularly as a mother and grandmother. Her personality radiated warmth, with a special affinity for spending time with her precious grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. She also enjoyed various hobbies, including playing 42, crocheting and cooking and was a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association.
Carolyn's faith was integral to her life, having been a member of Forest Home Baptist Church and more recently, First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore.
She leaves behind her sons, Todd Wimberley and Julie of Tracy, California, Martin Wimberley of Kilgore, Texas, David Wimberley of Big Sandy, and Larry Wimberley, grandchildren, Gage Wimberley, John David Wimberley, Zack Wimberley and Cody Wimberley and numerous other loving family members. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Wimberley, and her parents, Kirby Elbert Todd and Vena Avent.
Family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place the following day, Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore with Rev. Jerry Carpenter officiating.
Carolyn Wimberley's loving spirit, dedication to education, and commitment to her family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion and care will continue to inspire.
